It's a film from one of the most controversial novels published in recent years. The bestseller, by the French writer Michel Houellebecq, describes the lives of two half-brothers who are both in search of the meaning of life. Michael, the introverted molecular biologist, is concerned with ending sexual desire whilst Bruno, the teacher, pursues his hunt for happiness through sex with prostitutes. Finally, both of them encounter the love of a lifetime. But happiness seems to be brief.
